Homage: the Americans: A Tribute to Robert Frank
Lava Tube Waikiki was included in an exhibition hosted by The Griffin Museum of Photography (Winchester, MA) & curated by Executive Director Crista Dix. The show will be online for the month of October 2026.
The Lava Tube, located blocks from world renowned Waikiki beach, is emblematic of the mismatch between a nostalgic image of Hawaiʻi that has been embedded in our consciousness and a reality that risks reducing Hawaiʻi, its indigenous people and cultural traditions, to a series of oversimplified and easily consumable images.
Through annexation and eventual statehood, the residents of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi became Americans just one year after Robert Frank’s The Americans was first published in France.
The Brilliance of the Mundane
I was honored to be awarded the Der Greif Scholarship Guest Room Scholarship for "The Brilliance of the Mundane," curated by Annet Dekker & Margriet Schavemaker in July 2026.
This image from the Pali Overlook on Oahu (HI) is part of a larger body of work that explores the nostalgia and subtly disconcerting impacts of visual marketing strategies used to present Hawai‘i as an idyllic tropical destination.
This image might be a bit too ""mundane" for the final cut of the project but it remains a favorite because of its embedded humor and the satire surrounding the tourism experience.
Hi Zine & Print
Hi Zine & Print is a Hawaiʻi based collective making zines & sharing (mostly photographic) work in print form.
I am very proud to be a co-founder of this group along with James Knudsen. We share a love of photography, book making and the desire to create a supportive creative community and opportunities for artists to "get work off their hard drives and out into the world".
Three years ago the dream was to encourage more people to print and share their work and to build a creative community that inspires everyone to think about the different ways we can do that individually and as a group.

Postcards: Images and Whispers Exhibition
Royal Hawaiian Guests Only and the accompanying quote from Joan Didion were included in this exclusive, curated exhibition hosted at Melina Mercouri Cultural Centre - Municipality of Athens (Greece), as part of the Women's Photo Festival that opened on April 1, 2026.
In June of 2026 I was honored to learn that Royal Hawaiian Guests Only was included in a curated selection from this exhibition that travelled to the Otsuni Foto Festival in Italy.
Contemporary Photography in Hawai‘i 2026
She Died of Annexation and We Do Not Want to Come Back were juried into Contemporary Photography in Hawai‘i 2026 exhibition by Aline Smithson, photographer, educator founder of Lenscratch. The exhibition was held at Downtown Art Center (DAC) in Honolulu, Hawai‘i from February 12-28, 2026

Hawaii, Our Own
My limited edition self-published zine was named Best Concept Zine by David Ulrich, co-director of Pacific New Media at the Contemporary Photography in Hawaiʻi 2026 exhibition.
Hawaii, Our Own addresses the profound impact of tourism and colonialism and that has prevailed in the self-proclaimed “Aloha State” since the Kingdom was violently overthrown and annexed to the United States in 1893.
