The Contemporary Photography in Hawai’i 2022 is hosted by Pacific New Media. Katherine Love, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art, Honolulu Museum of Art was the juror for the show and stated:

“As a contemporary curator, I look for works that capture and hold my attention, and where I feel the uniquely personal vision of the artist shows through. This year’s selection of prints and portfolios … express and celebrate a wide diversity of viewpoints and interests among Hawaiʿi photographers.”

I am honored that my portfolio, HIdealized, was included in the show this year. This ongoing series uses photography to explore and reveal not only the nostalgia and iconic stereotypes but also the people and landscapes that continue to be used to craft an idealized version of Hawai’i that is presented to tourists and the wider world.
