Contemporary Photography in Hawai’i 2021

This year I took a huge leap of faith and challenged myself to expand my photographic vision. It was a year of exploration, frustration and a scant few “aha” moments. I often wondered if I was just wasting my time on an exploration that would ultimately go nowhere. But things started to come together and I submitted some of this new work to the Contemporary Photography in Hawai’i 2021 Exhibition.

I was thrilled to find out that some of this new work was included in the show. In fact, my series, Enchanting Propaganda, received the Pacific New Media Portfolio Award.

The Thirteenth Annual Survey Exhibition sponsored by Pacific New Media Foundation was curated by juror Catherine Whitney, Director of Curatorial Affairs, Honolulu Museum of Art. She said:

“All selected works were deeply compelling and successful in their abilities to capture the cultural and visual complexities of Hawai’i during this historic period of cultural upheaval and social longing. The online exhibition is not to be missed and all the works memorable in their own right.”

The online exhibition (due to the Covid-19 pandemic) opens September 1, 2021. I’m so thrilled to be included and urge you to take a look a the work of the other talented Hawai’i photographers who share the virtual walls with me by clicking here.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by!  To see more of my work please take a moment to look through my galleries or follow me on social media…
